Anxiety Management Q&A
What is integrative anxiety management?
Anxiety affects people in different ways. Some people with anxiety respond by avoiding friends and family or ignoring activities they used to enjoy to avoid triggering their anxiety. Like most conditions, anxiety is often due to a variety of factors. When enough of those factors add up, people can experience anxiety. Dr. Ruidas will spend time with you to identify the factors contributing to your anxiety. She will help you design an integrative treatment plan that will combine nutritional, herbal, physical, and spiritual therapies to address the factors that contribute to your anxiety.
Is Integrative anxiety management right for me?
Since many factors contribute to anxiety, your treatment plan should consist of several therapies to address these factors. While medications play a role in the treatment of anxiety for some people, medications only address one aspect of anxiety. This is why many people still have symptoms while taking anxiety medications. Other people are not able to take medications or prefer not to because of side effects. If any of these situations apply to you, Dr. Ruidas can help manage your medications, if you choose to use them, and recommend other complementary therapies that are customized to address your specific needs.
Is integrative anxiety management covered by insurance?
Most insurance companies only cover conventional therapies for anxiety, like medications and psychotherapy. Since Dr. Ruidas is a medical doctor who bills insurance companies for services, a portion of your visits will likely be covered, but the additional time spent and alternative therapies involved in a whole-person approach to anxiety will not be covered. You will be responsible for that portion of your time with Dr. Ruidas, called the Integrative Medicine fee. Dr. Ruidas will also provide you with a written treatment plan which she recommends you share with your primary care doctor.
