Nutrition Consult Q&A
What is a nutrition consult?
During an integrative nutrition consultation, Dr. Ruidas will review your health history, medications, eating habits, and three-day food intake diary in order to evaluate your unique situation and needs. She will help you develop a realistic personalized written guide that you can use to implement your desired changes over time which will lead to more lasting success.
Is a nutrition consult right for me?
Nutrition plays a key role in many aspects of daily life and your overall well-being. If you can answer yes to any of the questions below, Dr. Ruidas can help you find the information you need to address your concerns. She will work with you to transition toward healthier living.
- Are you tired of being sick and tired?
- Do you lose weight but have trouble keeping it off?
- Do you need help with easy ways to eat better?
- Are you confused about what you should really be eating?
- Do you want to change your eating habits, but don’t know where to begin?
- Are you ready to commit to improving your well-being?
Is a nutrition consult covered by insurance?
Most insurance companies only cover nutrition counseling as it relates to medical conditions like diabetes. Since Dr. Ruidas is a medical doctor who bills insurance companies for services, a portion of your visits will likely be covered, but the additional time spent and alternative therapies like meditation and breath work involved in a whole-person approach to healthy eating will not be covered. You will be responsible for that portion of your time with Dr. Ruidas, called the Integrative Medicine fee. Dr. Ruidas will also provide you with a written treatment plan which she recommends you share with your primary care doctor.
